What is Vitessa Vault?
Vitessa Vault is an independent Safe Deposit Centre located in Oakwood, North London, close to Hertfordshire. We provide high-security storage solutions including safety deposit boxes, large safes and secure document storage, all protected by day and night on-site security guards, advanced biometric access systems and our Grade 9 vault.
What makes Vitessa Vault different from bank safe deposit boxes?
Unlike traditional bank safe deposit boxes, every Vitessa Vault safety deposit box includes £50,000 complimentary insurance, with the option to increase cover up to £500,000. Clients also benefit from extended access hours and a personalised private service. Our facility is purpose-built for security, with a Grade 9 vault, day and night on-site security personnel, biometric access controls and Secured by Design accreditation. Banks typically do not insure box contents and are often limited by restricted access and impersonal service models.
Where are you located?
Vitessa Vault is located in the London Borough of Enfield, in Oakwood, North London, directly beside Oakwood Underground Station on the Piccadilly Line. We offer CCTV monitored parking in front of our premises. We are positioned on the border of Hertfordshire, with excellent road links via the M25 and A406 North Circular, providing easy access from London, Enfield, Hertfordshire, Barnet, Southgate, Cockfosters and surrounding areas. FAQs: Account Opening & Access
What do I need to open an account?
To open an account, you will need valid photo ID, such as a current passport or UK/EU driving licence, plus proof of address dated within the last 3 months, such as a utility bill, bank statement or council tax bill. For security and compliance reasons, photocopies or digital copies are not accepted. All documents must be original and presented in person at account opening.
Can I open an account without an appointment?
Yes, we welcome walk-ins during operating hours. However, we strongly recommend booking an appointment in advance to ensure dedicated staff availability, a smoother experience and faster account setup. Appointments allow us to give you our full attention and answer questions about our secure storage options.
How many people can have access to my safe deposit box?
You can authorise up to 10 other people to access your safety deposit box. Access settings can be configured to suit your requirements, including individual access or joint access requiring another authorised user. Every authorised person must complete individual identity verification and biometric registration.
What are your opening hours?
We are open seven days a week. Our opening hours are Monday 10:30am to 6:00pm, Tuesday 10:30am to 6:00pm, Wednesday 10:30am to 5:00pm, Thursday 10:30am to 6:00pm, Friday 10:30am to 6:00pm, Saturday 10:30am to 6:00pm and Sunday 10:30am to 2:30pm.
Is Vitessa Vault accessible for wheelchair users?
Yes. Vitessa Vault is fully wheelchair accessible. Our space allows clients using wheelchairs or other mobility aids to move from reception directly to their individual safety deposit box.

How secure is Vitessa Vault?
Vitessa Vault is the first and only safe deposit centre to achieve Gold Accreditation from the Metropolitan Police. Security is central to everything we do. Our Grade 9 high-security vault is housed within a former NatWest bank branch and has been further reinforced with concrete and steel. Security measures include day and night on-site security guards, 24/7 monitored alarms, CCTV surveillance and biometric access controls.

How do I access my safe deposit box?
Access is strictly controlled and requires biometric verification of the client. Only clients can access their safety deposit boxes using their personal keys. Vitessa Vault has no access whatsoever to any client's box.
What happens if I lose my key?
If you lose your key, contact us immediately so we can secure your account and prevent access. We do not keep spare copies of customer keys. If one key is lost, a replacement lock is £250 per lock, including two new keys. If both keys are lost, a customer-requested lock drill is £450 per lock Monday to Friday, including a new lock and keys, subject to engineer availability. Failure to attend a scheduled drill-out or provide at least 24 hours' notice of cancellation will incur a £160 fee. You can access your safety deposit box during our operating hours, seven days a week, with free unlimited visits included. Access is not available outside business hours. The vault is secured and automatically locked when the facility is closed.

What can I store in my safe deposit box?
You can store valuables including jewellery, precious metals, important documents such as wills, property deeds and passports, family heirlooms, coins, stamps, cash, investment documents and other valuable items.
What can't I store?
You cannot store firearms, ammunition, knives, chemicals, drugs, explosives, flammable items or anything illegal. All contents must be legally obtained and cannot represent proceeds of crime or money laundering.
Do you need to know what I store?
No. We guarantee complete privacy and discretion. We never ask about or record the contents of your storage. Your privacy is absolute and is our priority.
Should I keep copies of important documents?
Yes. We strongly recommend keeping copies of important documents elsewhere, and maintaining a detailed inventory with photographs and valuations for insurance purposes.

Are my stored items insured?
Yes. Every safe deposit box at Vitessa Vault includes GBP 50,000 of complimentary insurance cover per year, provided in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. Cover applies from the point your safe deposit box rental begins and is arranged specifically for items stored within our secure vault environment. Cover can be increased up to GBP 500,000 per safe deposit box, subject to underwriting.
Can you arrange valuations?
Yes. We can arrange professional valuations through qualified gemologists and registered valuers for gold, jewellery, diamonds, coins, stamps and other valuables. Discounted rates are available for account holders. We do this in partnership with Prestige Valuations of Hatton Garden. A valuer can be booked to carry out the valuation from your home or from our secure premises, depending on your preference.

We recommend comprehensive All Risk insurance designed specifically for safe deposit box contents. Cover is available up to GBP 500,000 per safe deposit box, subject to underwriting. Our team can guide you through available options so your level of cover reflects the value of your stored items. For higher-value holdings, we strongly recommend keeping up-to-date inventories and professional valuations.

How much does a safe deposit box cost?
Pricing varies based on size and storage type. We offer competitive rates for safe deposit boxes, large safes and document safe storage.
Are there additional fees?
Key deposits are required and are fully refundable: £100 for a safe deposit box and £300 for a large safe. Additional insurance above £50,000 is charged at £20 per £10,000 of cover, purchased in blocks of £10,000, with a minimum 12-month term. Replacement lock, lock drill, overdue payment, non-payment drill, correspondence, probate, Power of Attorney and other administrative charges may also apply as set out in the Insurance & Valuation section.
What are the replacement lock and drilling charges?
If one key is lost, a replacement lock costs £250 and includes two new keys. If both keys are lost, a customer-requested drill-out costs £450 per lock from Monday to Friday and includes a new lock and keys, subject to engineer availability. Missing a scheduled drill-out or giving less than 24 hours' cancellation notice incurs a £160 fee.
What charges apply following non-payment?
Overdue balances are charged interest at 2% per month or part month. If a box is drilled following notice for non-payment, charges are £320 for the engineer and replacement lock, £120 for a company representative and £250 for a solicitor.
What administrative and legal-processing charges apply?
Correspondence and research costs £50 for the first half hour and £75 per hour or part thereof after that. Processing a valid Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration costs £100. Processing a Power of Attorney costs £200 and is considered case by case for urgent matters with the consent of all account holders. More complex matters may incur reasonable costs quoted in advance.
Are there any other charges?
Other charges include £10 for returned customer cheques where bank charges apply, £15 to stop a cheque issued by Vitessa Vault Ltd where bank charges apply and the fault is not ours, and £30 for a replacement safe deposit box container where damage is caused by misuse.

FAQs: Specialised Storage
What are large safes?
Large safes are individually alarmed storage units suitable for high-volume storage, family sharing or business use. Each has individual alarm systems with external monitoring and response support. A GBP 300 refundable key deposit is required.
What is document safe storage?
Our document safe storage service uses custom-made protective bags that are waterproof, tamper-proof and fire-resistant up to 2000 degrees. Pricing starts at GBP 299 for three years or GBP 450 for five years, including protective materials.
Which storage option is right for me?
Safe deposit boxes are ideal for jewellery, documents and smaller valuables. Large safes are suitable for large collections, family storage or business needs. Document storage is specialised protection for important papers and records.

What happens if I become incapacitated?
Joint account holders can continue accessing storage. You can also appoint a deputy who must be present during appointment and given a key. The deputy's access ceases upon notification of death or incapacity.
What happens after death?
Joint account holders retain full access. For sole renters, access is granted to surviving spouses, parents, adult children or named executors with proper legal documentation. Court orders may be required in some cases.
Can law enforcement access my storage?
Access requires a valid court order. We will only grant access to law enforcement with proper legal authorisation.
